Taichung Daya Chapel-Keynote Speaker

Elder Shih Ning Yang

Elder Shih Ning Yang

Elder Shih Ning Yang was called to serve as an Asia Area Seventy at the April 2024 General Conference. Belonging to the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy, he was ordained by Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and has been assigned by the Asia Area Presidency to coordinate matters within the Kaohsiung Mission.

Both Elder and Sister Yang joined the Church in their youth. As a young man, Elder Yang served a mission in the Taipei Mission, while Sister Yang served in the Kaohsiung Mission. In 1988, they went in succession to the United States to pursue their studies, where they dated during their time in school and were married on September 21, 1993, in the Manti Utah Temple. Elder Yang earned a master’s degree in fine arts from Utah State University, and Sister Yang earned a master’s degree in mass communication from Brigham Young University.

In their professional career, Elder Yang worked in international education for 18 years before transitioning to employment in the Church’s temporal affairs. He currently serves as the head of the Church’s Asia Area Production Department. Sister Yang, after returning home from her mission, worked in the Church’s Translation Department until 2021.

They are parents of two sons and both have served as full-time missionaries. Their elder son currently works as a consultant in the Church’s Asia Area Family Services, and their younger son is engaged in the music and performing arts industry in Taipei. They also have a grandson who is just over one year old.

Elder and Sister Yang have each served in numerous Church callings. During his mission, Elder Yang served as a branch president, and while studying in the United States he served as an elders quorum president. After returning to Taiwan, he was called to serve in a bishopric, later serving for 10 years as a counselor in a stake presidency, 9½ years as a stake president, and three years as president of the Taipei Mission. Sister Yang has served in Primary, Young Women, and the Relief Society.

They testify that this is a Church led by Jesus Christ, and that through the continual revelation God provides, we can come to know and bear witness of His existence. Only as the gospel of Christ opens our spiritual vision can we clearly see the foundation of our faith, and all that we do will become blessings for the future.
