Introduction of the Instructors:
Elder Lew was born in 1960 in Provo, Utah, the youngest of four children. His parents immigrated from Taishan County, Guangdong, China. From 1979 to 1981, he served as a young missionary in the Hong Kong Mission. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and later earned a master’s degree in international business. He worked in banking in Salt Lake City and San Francisco before moving to Hong Kong, where he spent 27 years working in banking and finance. His hobbies include running, tennis, golf, and skiing.
Sister Lew was born in 1963 in New York City and is the eldest of two children. Her parents also immigrated from Taishan County, Guangdong, to the United States. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations. She worked for many years in commercial insurance before becoming a full-time homemaker. She enjoys baking, sewing, gardening, and walking.
Both were raised in the Church and were baptized at age eight. They have witnessed how the gospel has brought profound blessings to their families. They say that one of their most important spiritual milestones was being sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1986. They testify deeply that marriage and family are central to God’s plan and that the temple brings real strength to families. This has been one of the most sacred and precious blessings of their lives.
They have four children (two sons and two daughters) and three lovely grandchildren, and will welcome a fourth grandchild in 2026. Family is their greatest joy. They love traveling, exploring new places, trying new foods, meeting new friends, and interacting with people of different cultures. Their time in Taiwan has been a treasured journey, and they feel honored to serve here as senior couple missionaries.
Elder Lew has served as a branch president; first and second counselor in a bishopric; counselor in a stake presidency; high councilor; and Primary pianist. Sister Lew has served as Primary president; Young Women president; Relief Society president; stake Relief Society president; and counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency. Over the years, they have felt that callings in the Church are rooted in love, and they hope to draw closer to the Savior through service.
