A Gentle Heart
Introduction of the Instructor
Sister Wang Zhenzhen came into contact with and became acquainted with the church during her middle years, initially to accompany her child to learn English. One day, after her child learned the story of Easter in class, she asked the teacher, “Why are there so many Christian churches with different names in the world, even though they all believe in Christ?” The teacher then introduced her to the Book of Mormon and briefly explained the gospel. After reading the book at home, she felt the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit and made the decision to join the church.
As the first member of her family to convert, Sister Wang has experienced many ups and downs and various trials throughout her more than thirty years of faith journey, but she has repeatedly witnessed God’s support and grace.
Sister Wang began her journey into Nihonga (painting) when a church sister introduced her to her first art teacher, Teacher Yu Mei, a retired elementary school teacher who is dedicated to promoting Nihonga (painting) art. She realized that learning Nihonga (painting) was like cultivating one’s character, as it helps develop patience and perseverance. Thus, she has continued to create steadily to this day.
In addition to Nihonga (painting), she also loves dance and floral arrangement. Faith, painting, dance, and floral art have become the four major blessings of her silver-haired years, accompanying her gracefully and richly as she moves toward the end of her life’s journey.
