From Ordinary to Extraordinary — A Full-Time Mother Found Strength in Sports

Introduction of theInstructor :

Sister Cheng Mi was born into a church family and is the second of six children. She was baptized at age eight in 1993. From September 2006 to April 2008, she served as a full-time missionary in the Taichung Mission. In July 2014, she was sealed to her husband in the Taipei Temple.

She is a full-time mother of three and a woman who loves life and self-challenging. She majored in Early Childhood Education in college and worked as a kindergarten teacher for about six years before dedicating herself full-time to raising her children.

Sister Cheng loves sports. She has participated in the Hsinchu City Dragon Boat Races for two consecutive years, earning second place both times, and has even competed in a boxing match—earning from her children the nickname “Cool Mom.”

After her first child was born, she created a Facebook fan page to share her experiences as a mother. It has now been active for nine years, and as of 2025, she has begun receiving advertorials, bringing both income and online exposure.

Past Callings: Primary President, Young Women President, Relief Society President, Primary President of the Hualien District, Seminary Teacher, and Primary Music Leader.

Current Calling: Ward Music Coordinator, assisting in organizing the choir.

Course Overview:

“Being a mom is not just being a mom. It’s a personal story written in sweat and perseverance.”

Full-time mothers are often seen as devoted solely to their families. During her eleven years of marriage, Sister Cheng often found herself supporting her husband, caring for her children, and managing the household—yet neglecting herself.

It wasn’t until she stepped into a boxing gym and joined dragon boat training and competitions that she discovered her boundless potential.

In this course, she will share:

  • How she transformed from “just a mom” into “a woman who found her own strength.”
  • How boxing and dragon boating built her confidence and courage.
  • How to make space for personal growth amid a busy family life.

This is a story written in sweat—a journey to rediscover oneself—and an encouragement to every mother who strives daily yet often forgets her own worth:

A mother is more than a mother. Each of us can rise from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
