Holographic Will: The Final Letter to Your Family

Introduction of the Instructor:

Sister Luo Hsiao-hui was introduced to the Church in September 1997 through an English class and was baptized that same month, beginning her journey of faith. At that time, she also joined the liver transplant team at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, serving as secretary to liver transplant expert Professor Chen Zhao-long. In this role, she learned invaluable lessons about responsibility, professionalism, and attention to detail.

In 2011, to better balance work and family, she transitioned to China Life Insurance (now KGI Life Insurance). Through her work in the insurance field, she discovered how deeply “inheritance” is connected to “family relationships.” Motivated to help people plan early and face the future with peace of mind, she continued to pursue self-funded training on asset transfer, inheritance tax law, and related topics.

In the Church, Sister Luo has served in various callings, including Sunday School teacher and temple worker in the Taipei Taiwan Temple. Her long-term service of two or more years includes: early-morning Seminary teacher, Gospel Study teacher, Young Women president, Stake Young Women counselor, and temple worker.

She firmly believes that learning about the law is not meant to complicate life, but to empower individuals to understand and exercise their rights to make informed decisions. Sister Luo hopes to help sisters learn how to prepare wisely and lovingly for life and asset transfer.

Course Overview:

Throughout life’s journey, preparing in advance is one of the deepest expressions of love and responsibility toward our families. This course will guide sisters in understanding the basic legal rules of “inheritance” under Taiwan’s Civil Code and help clarify:

• Who can inherit my property
• What “statutory share” and “reserved portion” mean
• How to properly write a legally valid holographic will

The purpose of this course is to help sisters, while they are still clear-minded and capable of making decisions, thoughtfully arrange the passing on of love and assets according to their wishes—preventing family conflict and allowing love to extend deeper and farther.

Course Outline:

  1. Who are my legal heirs
  2. Regulations on statutory shares and reserved portions
  3. Requirements for a legally valid holographic will
  4. Will formats Sample
