Selfless Service — The Character of the Celestial Personages
Jesus said,“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
(Matthew 25:40)
Public service is more than helping others, it is the practice of Christlike love. It is one way we become the Lord’s hands, extending His blessings to those in need.
TO SEE A NEED AND TAKE ACTION
At the heart of public service lies a simple but profound truth: to see a need and take action. When we do so, we live out the commandment to “love our neighbor as ourselves”. Through service, we learn humility, develop sympathy, and experience the presence of God more deeply. In serving, we manifest His love; in acting, we bear witness of His grace. Through our hands, His love and mercy reach every life that needs help and comfort.
2026 Public Service Project
This year, our public service workshop is partnering with the Children’s Hearing Foundation (雅文兒童聽語文教基金會). Through discussions with the foundation and families of children with hearing loss, we learned about a specific need—headbands for bone conduction hearing aids.
After prayerful consideration and multiple planning meetings, we decided that our 2026 Women’s Conference public service project will be to handcraft headbands for bone conduction hearing aids as gifts for children with hearing loss.
Why headbands for bone conduction hearing aids?
Some children with hearing loss also have outer ear deformities or were born without ear canals—a condition known as microtia. In Taiwan, approximately one in every 5,000–6,000 newborns are diagnosed with microtia.
Because these children cannot wear conventional air-conduction hearing aids (which require an outer ear and ear canal), they rely on bone conduction hearing aids, which transmit sound through the bone behind the ear.
However, headbands for bone conduction hearing aids are rarely available commercially, leaving many parents to handcraft them for their children at home.
Therefore, we hope to provide these families with tangible help and support by making and donating a number of custom headbands for bone conduction hearing aids to meet their needs.
For most of us, hearing and speaking come naturally. But for children with hearing loss, it is a long and difficult journey. Once they can wear their hearing aids, their world fills with laughter and connection.
Let us join to protect their “right to hear”.
We invite all sisters to participate in making “Headbands of Love”— headbands for bone conduction hearing aids that help children with hearing loss hear love.
In addition to the public service workshop, we will also host a Service Orientation Meeting before the second midday session.
At that time, we will express appreciation to all sisters who helped create handmade shampoo bars for the Garden of Hope Foundation last year.
Representatives from the Children’s Hearing Foundation are also invited to share their work and the impact of their programs.
We warmly invite every sister to participate!!

Core Concept
In this world, some newborns have not yet heard their parents say their first “I love you” before life presses their “mute,” “static,” or “mono” button.
To them, the world is quiet and blurry—because they were born as “hearing loss babies.”
For most people, hearing and speaking come naturally.
For children with hearing loss, it is a long and challenging journey.
When a child puts on a hearing device, the world finally becomes filled with sound.
Special Cases and Support Efforts
Some children not only have hearing loss but also have outer ear deformities or no ear canal at all — a condition known as microtia.
In Taiwan, approximately one in every 5,000 newborns has microtia.
These children cannot use standard air-conduction hearing aids and must rely on bone-conduction devices.
However, the market lacks specially designed headbands for securing bone-conduction hearing aids for children without an outer ear or ear canal.
In 2026, the Taiwan Area Women’s Conference will assist in handmaking headbands for bone-conduction hearing aid. This service will help ease parents’ worries and support children’s “right to hear.”
We warmly invite all sisters to join in making these “devices that let children with hearing loss hear love.”
